Sometimes having friends on Twitter can really have it benefits, especially when they have awesome connections. Such was the case when I commented on Paul Maloney‘s awesome looking new plastic business cards. Turns out, the business cards were created by Oomph!, a company that prints all sorts of awesome plastic cards and they were looking for some nice promotors.
Truth be told, I haven’t had business cards since the beginning of the year. I worked from home and since all of my clients have been somewhere else in the world, I’ve never ever needed them and they always just sat around until the information on them was so outdated, I couldn’t use them if I had wanted. But now I live in London. And with London has come tons of meetings, conferences and in person client meetings. I’ve now been asked for a card at least 2-3 times.
So, Oomph! came around at the right time. I bugged my favourite designer, Paul Maloney, into making business cards immediately to match the lovely website he designed for me. I finally got them in at the end of last week (took a week to print) and WOW. They are lovely!
Although I’ve never heard of plastic business cards before, I’m always on the lookout for “something different” and memorable and these are it. The printing job looks great, the plastic is high quality and the colours are fantastic. A few of the cards on the outside of the pack seemed to be scratched a little, but honestly, that happens with all cards – even my MOO cards (which I loved by got stolen when we were robbed).
I will also say that they are a little bit pricey – around £100 for 100 cards – but I promise they’re well worth it. And I can’t wait until I finally get an opportunity to hand these babies out. I’m thinking Handheld Conference is going to be plastered with them. 😛
